Southend gets new site!

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

Here at Southend we think of the future. We can all make a better tomorrow by recycling our trash, buying ecological food and switching to more environment friendly power sources.
So when us at Southend discovered that our old homepage was actually coal driven, polluted the air with black smoke and leaked oil everywhere, we decided to do something about it!

I present to you *drumroll* the new and improved Southend site! It’s driven on wind power and fairy dust and it’s soooo much better in every way imaginable! Holy smokes!

So what are you waiting for? Step right in! Don’t be shy! Please, tell us what you think!

ilomilo split screen fix!

ilomilo split
ilo, milo, Rilo and Silo

Many of you have thought, “ilomilo is such an awesome game, but wouldn’t it be even better if, in multiplayer, two players could play at the same time and solve puzzles together in real time instead of having to wait for each other?”

Well, good news everyone! We have heard your plea and have decided to release a free game update that allows up to four players to solve puzzles in split screen or up to eight players online, in real time! That’s right! No more waiting! Just real time puzzle fun for you and your friends!

ilo and milo is now accompanied by their four cousins, “Filo”, “Silo”, “Rilo” and “Stan”. They play just like ilo and Milo, and they will also take part in the ilomilo shuffle mode so that now, instead of just controlling ilo and milo, the player also controls their four cousins.

Controlling six characters at the same time might sound challenging, and it is! Trice the challenge, trice the fun as we say!

Of course we had to rebuild all the levels in order to fit with the new six player mode, and we’re gonna have to reset all the leaderboards, but we think you understand.

We don’t have a release date for the title update yet, but more info is on the way!

Autumn Tale is released!

Actually it’s been out there since last week, but since Martin is out globetrotting, it’s not been blogged yet :)

So, to all of you who were afraid it was cancelled, now is the time to celebrate!

Now go solve all those new levels!

ilomilo wins 3 pocket gamer awards!

Friday, March 4th, 2011

pga

ilomilo WP7 won three pocket gamer awards this year! One for “Best Casual/Puzzle Game”, one for “Most Innovative Game” and also the “Windows Phone 7 Game of the Year” award!

Oh, glorious day!

On a different note, I’m going on vacation for 3 weeks now, so the blog updates won’t be so frequent during that time. My colleague Daniel take over the blog-writing while I take some time in the sun.

See you around people! :)

Autumn tale – DLC (March 9th)

Monday, February 28th, 2011

Like an autumn leaf it comes soaring with the wind and momentarily lands in your hair before laying to rest on the ground. You pick it up and you look at it with a smile, and you say:

- “Whoa! You’re one fabulastic looking leaf! I’m gonna take you home and love you and call you Cuddles. You and me, we’re gonna have so much fun together!”

Ah yes, and the leaf is actually the first official DLC for ilomilo, but I thought the metaphor was quite fitting. Gather around and let me tell you what goodness you can look forward to when it’s being released by the 9th of March:

- New and improved setting! Autumn tale!
- The story of ilo and milo continues through two new gorgeous chapters.
- 19 new levels of cubistic puzzles + 6 new challenging bonus levels!
- 3 new achivements

And here’s a trailer for you to behold and revel in:

ilomilo XBLA title update!

titleupdate

Here at Southend we don’t make mistakes. No! Nay! Never! Not us!
However, some people have found features they thought were “bugs” (but that clearly wasn’t) and apparently they didn’t like them, so we made a title update where we removed them. You ungrateful you! ;)

For all of you who just want the quick version, The game no longer crashes!

For the ones of you who wants a more comprehensive version.  Here’s a list of the most important fixes:

__________________

Fixes

- Helper bubble freeze issue fixed! The game would freeze when having helper bubbles enabled and picking up a cube.

- Chaincube starting on teaser no longer produces crash and invisible cubes.

- Chaincube interaction with plunger fixed. Having the chaincube interact with a plunger cube could result in a crash. This could happen on for example “blue depths” level.

- Some levels could be exploited, getting scores that will no longer be possible.  Some leaderboards had to be reset because of this. If you solved “Dreamer” before the update, you will now have to play it again to enter that leaderboard. (this also affects the “Chapter 4″ and “First Adventure” leaderboards)

- Story sequences are now added to the gallery even when playing multiplayer.

- Step count logics updated.

- Helper bubble positioning fixed.
